Columns fabricated from the towering pink rock cliffs that make the impressive backdrop to Queen Hatshepsut's Temple. In later times it became a Christian monastery hence its alternative name of Deir El Bahari (Northern monastery). Queen Hatshepsut commenced construction early in her reign around 1480BC
